Travelwise – March is Walking School Bus Month

Newton Central is a Travelwise School.

Travelwise is a programme run by Auckland Transport aimed at promoting active, safe, sustainable transport.

Every Wednesday is Travelwise Wednesday – students can earn points towards winning the Travelwise Trophy.  Please try to walk, scoot, bike, bus, car-pool, or park and ride, then report to the Travelwise Ambassadors on duty outside the library/Room 7 – look for the green bunting.

March is Walking School Bus Month. We have a Walking School Bus operating from Grey Lynn. The Kingsland Walking School Bus is on hold until the cycleway and walking lanes are separated later this year. We have a growing number of enrolments from Eden Terrace and the Karangahape Road area and are calling for expressions of interest for starting up Walking School Bus routes along Karangahape Road and Newton Road. More information about the Walking School Bus programme can be found here. If you think you might be interested in joining a Walking School Bus, please complete this quick survey.

Whether you are part of an official Walking School Bus or not, everyone can join in the fun with themed dress-up weeks. Prizes up for grabs.
