Our next fundraising targets:

Maths Fundraising

What do we want?

A further $10,000 for extra teaching resources. While we have recently been able to make a contribution towards better maths teaching resources, this area needs a significant jolt of support to ensure all our kids have the learning resources they deserve, sooner rather than later.

Can you help?

We would love to secure local business sponsorship for some of our extra teaching resource requirements. Can you help? Please email PTA@newton.school.nz

So, what do school donations go towards?

Teacher Fundraising

The school spends $100,000 each year over what is funded by the Ministry of Education for staffing: to prioritise low pupil teacher ratios, have additional help in literacy, teacher assistants (kaiāwhina) and student advocacy for behavioural and learning needs.

This means that help is on hand when your child needs it, or your child has more focussed time with their classroom teacher as they can call on the assistance of others when children in the class need extra attention.

Books fundraising

Each year the school spends around $4,000 more than the funding provided by the Ministry of Education, on library books and classroom readers, to replace books that are lost, damaged or not returned.

Technology Fundraising

The school receives just over $15,000 a year in Information Communication and Technology (ICT) funding but spends over $35,000 a year on computers, smartboards and support, a deficit of around $20,000 annually.

Auditing & Financial Management

The accounts are reviewed regularly by the Board of Trustees, the annual financial statements are audited by RSM Hayes, and a copy is always kept in the reception area of the office for anyone to look at. The most recent audit information can be found here: Audit 2018
