Senior Athletics Day Years 4 – 6
Thursday 28th November 2019 at Grey Lynn Park
142 senior students walked to Grey Lynn Park to compete in our annual Athletics Fun Day last week.
All students competed in the 100m sprints, whereas the 200m was optional. The 4 x 100m relay was an exciting race to watch which saw a photo finish of a three-way tie between Te Uru Karaka, R13 and R14.
The ten field events were:
1) sack race; 2) tug-o-war; 3) hurdles; 4) parachute/human wheelbarrow and stilts; 5) egg and spoon; 6) three-legged race; 7) frisbee target throw; 8) shot put/discus throw; 9) rippa rugby and 10) softball and bat striking.
Congratulations to all our seniors from year 4 to year 6 who participated with fair play and good sportsmanship.
We wish to thank all our support staff and parent helpers who helped to walk us there and back, on top of supervising an activity.
A special thank you to Jo, Sonny (sack race), Victoria (tug-o-war), Isabelle (egg and spoon), Starsky (frisbee), Teanaroa, Trinity and our support staff.

School Athletics 2019
Thursday 5 December at Newton Central School
Our Junior School celebrated sports and athletics with many events around the school. Despite the hot conditions it was great to see our children giving the best efforts. It could not have happened without the support of the parents and the teachers – thank you.
