If you are concerned about measles call Healthline on 0800 611 116 or call your GP. Please do not just turn up to your GP, after hours or emergency department as you could potentially infect others.
Cases of measles are now reaching epidemic levels and the Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) has advised schools that both staff and students who are not immunised must stay at home for up to 10 days if a case is identified in the school. You should be aware that we have been actively asking families to update their children’s immunisation records at the school. This is now a matter of urgency. Note that if you have not provided the school with up to date vaccination records then we will have to assume your child is not immunised and your child will be required to stay home for 10 days if a child in their class, or who they associated with, is confirmed to have contracted measles within the school. Julie, our school secretary, has already contacted all families who have incomplete health records. We urgently ask those families to submit these records to us as soon as possible.
Be aware that there is a strong possibility that there will eventually be a case within the school and the ARPHS has already forwarded us the education pack to send out to families as soon as a case is reported.
