Critical Histories – Social Sciences / Tikanga-ā-iwi Curriculum
In honouring our bicultural partnership, Newton Central School use the Curriculum Programme Resource (CPR) which is a critical guide to Māori and Pākehā histories.
The CPR is designed for educators to support the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa goals for all New Zealanders.
There is a progression of specific topics covered in the Years 1 – 6 units. The Curriculum Programme – CPR is part of the integrated curriculum learning that is unique to our school. As your child progresses through Newton they will cover the following:
Unit One Te Ao Māori o Neherā
Unit Two British Isles
Unit Three Two Worlds Meet
Unit Four Te Tīriti o Waitangi
Unit Five Pākehā Response
